Every single material, from the thread to the zips to the Italian Full grain leather, has been meticulously chosen to make sure we only have the finest materials used in our products.
Our tweed comes from the Lovat Mill situated in the Scottish Borders, nestled on the emerald banks of the river Teviot. Testament to Lovat's heritage, expertise and quality, their tweeds are exclusively used by 180 private estates and military regiments throughout the UK.
Historically, weatherproofing and durability required heavier fabrics but by combining modern technology and traditional craftsmanship, Lovat has been able to weave hard-wearing, lightweight rain-resistant fabrics.
Our calf suede comes from a tannery in Tuscany, where master craftsman Renato along with his two children Gabriele and Caterina, produce some of Italy's finest, most beloved calf suede.
Using the perfect blend of innovation and tradition, Renato creates water repellent calf suede that is supple, beautifully soft to to touch, whilst possessing the strength in character and perfect structure required for a weekend bag.
Vegetable tanning is the finest and most sustainable way to tan leather.
For our hardwearing trim leather, we use the an incredible tannery just outside Florence Their natural, sustainable, vegetable tanning produces the most authentic and beautiful leather perfect for our handles and cardholders. Our leather will age and develop over time, building its own patina across the many journeys you take your Hylton Goods on.
Whilst the vast majority of zips are manufactured in the Far East; our zips are manufactured in Switzerland near Lake Lugano by Riri, widely considered the finest producer of premium zips in the world.
Each tooth is individually polished and placed onto the tape one by one, to ensure Riri's market leading zips stay the strongest and smoothest in the world.
In the heart of Tuscany, in the town of Ponte a Egola you can find the tannery that supplies our full grain vegetable tanned leather which we use to make our full leather bags.
This Italian full grain leather is the pinnacle of our collection. The tannery is a distinguished member of the Consorzio Vera Pelle consortium, a very select group of tanneries from Tuscany.
Each individual bag's skin is hand selected and approved by our founder. This leather is a rare thing, time does not dim or minimise it's qualities. This vegetable-tanned leather absorbs the traces of our journeys, maturing, developing and transforming with time.
